How does a conference call work?
A conference call is a business meeting conducted via the telephone, which can unite multiple participants who join the call simply by dialling a number. Invitees will be given a dial-in number, access code and PIN code to join a conference bridge, which acts as a virtual ‘room’ to host or join meetings. Conference calling is particularly useful when colleagues are working on a project together or for shareholder meetings, for example, bring together all concerned wherever they may be in the world. In today’s working world, it is more likely that conference calls take place online, but it is still possible for these to operate via a landline, too. Video conferencing takes the business meeting to the next level by facilitating ‘face-to-face’ meetings between two more people in a multiplicity of locations using video-enabled devices; these can be anything from a smartphone to a laptop or tablet.
