The challenge

Efficiency and security are integral components of the educational workday. Staff and students need to rely on high internet speeds to communicate and learn alongside the assurance they can work safely and securely.

For Ansford Academy, this assurance had come into question. The academy’s internet connectivity service was due to be discontinued. Moving away from their provider meant losing their web and content filtering services, which are essential practices for a safe learning environment.

On top of this, despite being fitted with a 100Mbps connection, they only ever received speeds of 20Mbps. With slow speeds and poor internet coverage across the Academy, they needed a new and improved replacement. That's where we stepped in.

Our team of tech experts provided the academy with a 1gbps leased line connection, giving staff and students guaranteed download and upload speeds of 100mbps, ensuring work and resources were readily available at any time.

Additionally, as safety was also a top priority, we provided a Smoothwall web and content filtering solution. Smoothwall analyses and categorises web content in real-time, protecting both staff and students from inappropriate or illegal content, and gives the IT manager visibility and control of everything they access on the web, even if they are using their own devices.

The results

With a new 1Gbps leased line connection, the academy has undergone a significant improvement in internet speeds, ensuring smooth access to online resources for both staff and students.

The addition of Smoothwall’s advanced web and content filtering provided robust security, safeguarding users from harmful content while allowing the IT department comprehensive oversight.

On top of that, the Cisco Meraki WAN solution ensured full Wi-Fi coverage throughout the campus, enhancing connectivity for every user. This integrated approach not only restored confidence in the academy’s internet infrastructure but also created a secure and seamless learning environment, ensuring that Ansford Academy remains at the forefront of educational technology.
