Wildix has won Vendor Innovation of the Year at the 2026 Comms Business Awards for the innovative AI-powered solution delivered in collaboration with RoboReception and Focus Group.
The winning entry celebrated a partnership that has combined specialist healthcare knowledge, advanced AI and real-time communications technology to address one of the dental sector’s most persistent operational challenges: missed patient calls.
RoboReception was founded by dentist Dr Grant McAree to help dental practices overcome front-desk bottlenecks and provide a more consistent service to patients. To bring this vision to life, RoboReception needed a communications platform capable of connecting its AI engine to live patient calls and generating natural responses in real time.
Focus Group worked with Wildix to develop the underlying telephony workflow through Focus CX, providing live call transcription, voice bot functionality and the integration layer required to connect the different technologies.
The resulting closed-loop process transcribes what the caller says, sends the information to RoboReception’s AI engine and converts the generated response back into speech, allowing AI Joe to hold a two-way conversation with the patient.
RoboReception has since handled more than 50,000 calls across 65 UK dental practices without a missed call, helping to generate an estimated £9 million in new-patient value. It has also allowed to move from a human-agent-only service to a scalable, fully AI-driven call-handling model, with the technology now supporting its international expansion.
The Vendor Innovation of the Year award won by Wildix recognises the combined contribution of all three businesses.
Wildix provided the foundational communications platform
RoboReception brought its dental-sector expertise and purpose-built AI
Focus Group delivered the technical integration and customer deployment via Focus CX
The achievement demonstrates what can be accomplished when vendors, technology specialists and channel partners collaborate around a clearly defined customer challenge. More importantly, it recognises an innovation that is already delivering measurable improvements for dental practices and their patients.
Congratulations to Dr Grant McAree and the entire RoboReception team, as well as everyone at Wildix and Focus Group who helped turn the original idea into an award-winning solution.
