Focus Group completes acquisition of Highnet Telecoms

highnet joins Focus Group

Focus Group is pleased to announce its latest acquisition - HighNet, a connectivity and telephony company based in Scotland. The business acquisition and financial investment will serve to extend geographical reach, strengthen product portfolios and enhance service expertise for both brands.

Focus Group, in continuation of its expansion plans, is confident HighNet provides an outstanding platform to support the acceleration of its business development in Scotland. HighNet, a successful family-run business founded in 1984, has been actively seeking investment to support ambitious growth plans.

HighNet will continue to operate under its well-established brand name and Focus Group are delighted that David J Seigal will continue to lead HighNet as Managing Director, together with his existing management team and employees, whilst chairman David M Siegel will continue with his plans for retirement later this month.

Ralph Gilbert, co-founder of Focus Group, said: “The acquisition of HighNet is a great achievement for Focus Group and I’m delighted to welcome them on board. There is a perfect fit between the two companies that will create great opportunities for collaborations and business development in Scotland.

The company will continue to operate under its brand name. The existing management team and employees will continue to lead and drive the business forward from their head office in Exeter, after signing another long-term lease. They have already started recruiting new staff through its training academy.

HighNet have a strong core network of internet services, together with proven channel partner expertise, which will provide Focus Group with the ability to advance further in this field. Both companies are expanding exponentially and working closely together will speed up our growth plans”

David Siegel, MD of HighNet said: “It was really important that we found a pairing that allowed us to do what we do best. We also wanted a culture that matched our own and to benefit from all that comes with the support of a larger business; namely the investment and expertise to transition to a £20m turnover company.

There ended up being only one partnership that ticked all the boxes and I’m excited the next phase of our journey sees us joining forces with Focus Group. We can now start to concentrate our minds on how we best drive growth and deliver on our combined potential.”

HighNet was advised by Paul Billingham from Knight Corporate Finance, Focus was advised by Roxburgh Milkins and RSM UK Group.”
